The 5th specialist IE conference held in Dortmund on 5 June 2014 focused on the changes in the working world caused by Industry 4.0; the event was organized by the German MTM Association, the Institute of Production Systems (IPS) at Dortmund University of Technology and the RIF Institute for Research and Transfer. The 250 participants enjoyed exciting lectures and discussions related to the digital factory concept, human/robot cooperation, industrial data mining and the role of industrial engineering as an important design factor in Industry 4.0 and its so-called cyber/physical production systems related to information and communications technology.
The Users’ Conference held on 9 May 2014 focused on innovative methods, products and solutions to open up new prospects for corporations operating around the globe. The key topics were design work to match production as a success factor for preventing costs, the “ergo” check as the first step towards providing an all-round ergonomics management system and the contribution that MTM and TiCon software can make to provide effective interaction between workers and machines. The agenda also included the new MTM building block system known as Human Work Design, which enables companies to plan both productive and healthy work, and the opportunities arising from this for industrial production in Germany in the future.
